In 2009, amidst the profound humanitarian crisis gripping Somalia a crisis fueled by prolonged conflict, devastating droughts, floods, and pervasive socio-economic instability a vision for change emerged. A dedicated Somali woman professional, deeply moved by the plight of her people, founded the Gender Education, Empowerment & Leadership Organization (GEELO). Born from a commitment to alleviate suffering and foster resilience, GEELO was established as a non-profit, non-governmental humanitarian organization with a singular purpose: to protect and empower the most vulnerable segments of Somali society.

Who We Serve

1. Women and girls

particularly those who are single mothers, sexually abused, or struggling with addiction.

2. Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)

offering a lifeline to those uprooted by conflict and disaster

4. Marginalized families

such as the Bantus, landless, and peasants, who often face systemic exclusion.

Our GOAL

To protect the fundamental rights and uphold the dignity of vulnerable women, children, youth, and marginalized groups in Somalia through the provision of essential health services, education, and gender-based violence prevention, while simultaneously building resilient communities by promoting gender equality, food security, and inclusive decision-making for sustainable peace.
