GEELO's Background

Gender Education, Empowerment & Leadership Organization (GEELO) is a social non-profit- organization whose work is focused on protecting and empowering women and children (particularly the girl child, street children, and marginalized youth) from vulnerable backgrounds across the Somali society. With this, GEELO seeks to promote sustainable health, and social and economic development by engaging the local communities in all community-based approaches for resilience building, growth, and development.

GEELO mission is to establish a culture where women are supported to achieve their full potential by harnessing their economic power, promoting social inclusion, changing perceptions and influencing policies in gender equity, literacy, health, hygiene and sanitation, decision-making processes, food security, Peace building initiatives, advocacy and lobbying, community mobilization, resource utilization, Human Rights, GBV eradication, greater control of physical, social and economic environment through facilitation of participation of women in all inclusive decision making processes
